What’s In The Bag: Lilia Vu

Let’s take a look at what’s in the bag of two-time Major champion Lilia Vu.

Jump To: Vu’s WITB

Before 2023, many of you may not have been too familiar with Lilia Vu, but that has all changed over the last 12 months or so. Vu’s full name is Lilia Kha-Tu Du Vu, she turned professional in 2019 following a very successful 2018 season as an amateur – she sat at No.1 for 31 weeks.

Today's Golfer What's In The Bag is brought to you in association with Callaway Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X golf balls.

After a tough start to her professional career, with eight missed cuts from her first nine events, Vu was close to leaving the game of golf. She’s risen to World No.1 and represented USA at the 2023 Solheim Cup – Vu will be glad she persevered and found her best game at the right time.

Lilia Vu has won four times on Tour this season, picking up two Majors along the way. Vu’s first win this year came back in February, at the Honda LPGA Thailand, beating a star-studded field.

Lilia Vu is the 2023 AIG Women's Open Champion

This could have been the boost she needed to help her go on to win the Chevron Championship in a play-off against fellow American Angel Yin. Vu wasn’t done yet for 2023 as she went on to claim the AIG Women’s Open in fantastic fashion, beating home-hero Charley Hull by six shots.

The California native unfortunately couldn’t add the Solheim Cup to her list of victories in 2023. However, it hasn’t taken her too long to add some silverware to her trophy cabinet. The American’s latest victory was at the LPGA Tour’s penultimate event of the year, The 2023 ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge at Pelican.

Let’s take a look at what the former World No.1 has been using to help her achieve such greatness and propelled her to the top of the game.

What’s In The Bag: Lilia Vu

What driver does Lilia Vu use?

Lilia Vu opts for the original TaylorMade Stealth Plus with a Fujikura Ventus TR Blue shaft

Price: £379.00 / $419.99
Vu might not win any awards for her driving accuracy or distance, but she sticks with her original TaylorMade Stealth Plus regardless. Without having any allegiance to any brand, Vu is capable of playing any driver she likes, and while she's winning there's no need to swap equipment.

What fairway woods does Lilia Vu have in the bag?

Lilia Vu has two Callaway Apex (UW) Utility Woods (15° & 21°) with Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 6 S shaft

Price: £319.00 / $299.99 RRP
Built firmly with the Tour player in mind, the Callaway Apex UW has become a staple in Lilia Vu's bag. She leans heavily on these clubs to help her off the tee and approaching long par 4s and par 5s.

Vu has two fairway woods rather than having a fairway wood and utility club (hybrid or driving iron) - it obviously suits her game because she has found a winning formula this season.

What irons does Lilia Vu use?

Lilia Vu has one solitary Srixon Z585 4 iron with a KBS Tour shaft

Rrp: $1199.99

Price: $999.99
Alternative Retailers
PGA TOUR Superstore
$1199.99
DICK'S Sporting Goods
$999.99
Walmart
$999.99
To help generate speed, distance, and forgiveness with the long iron, Vu chooses to keep a Srixon Z585 in the bag rather than continuing with the rest of her iron set. It's a stretch to class this as a combo set, but there are some pros switching it up with irons rather than having one continuous set.

This model is no longer available, but the newest Srixon equivalent is a brilliant alternative. The Srixon ZX7 Mk II irons make up the rest of Vu's iron set and they are also in the bag of Carlota Ciganda, but the more forgiving ZX5 Mk II are closest to Vu's Z585 iron.

Lilia Vu has a full set of Srixon ZX7 MkII 5-AW irons with KBS Tour shafts

Price: £999.00 / $1199.99 RRP
Rounding out the rest of her iron set, Vu continues using Srixon irons, but she switches to the ZX7 MkII. Iron play is very strong for Vu, this season she has ranked 16th on the LPGA Tour for GIR. Srixon irons are becoming increasingly popular and what better player to have using them than a former World No.1?

What wedges does Lilia Vu use?

Lilia Vu carries Titleist Vokey Design SM9 wedges 56° and 60° with KBS Tour shafts

Price: £159.00 / $179.00 RRP (per club)
Like many Tour professionals, Lilia Vu relies on Titleist Vokey Design SM9 wedges. Short game isn't the strongest element of Vu's game but with the amount of greens she hits it doesn't matter too much.

What putter does Lilia Vu have in the bag?

Lilia Vu carries a Titleist Scotty Cameron GoLo 5 Putter in the bag

Price: $449.99
Alternative Retailers
PGA TOUR Superstore
$449.99
DICK'S Sporting Goods
$449.99
It's perhaps unsurprising that a Tour player with no club contract opts for a Titleist Scotty Cameron as their flat stick. Lilia Vu has found a lot of success with her GoLo5 putter, ranking 2nd this season on the LPGA Tour for putts per GIR and 31st for putting average.

Her GoLo 5 putter is blacked out with a bright pink grip that matches her bag. Sadly, this putter is no longer available but the GoLo 6 is very similar.
