What’s In The Bag: Jennifer Kupcho

Let’s dive into the bag of three-time LPGA Tour winner Jennifer Kupcho

Jump To: Kupcho’s WITB

Jennifer Kupcho has three victories on the LPGA Tour, but her first victory as a professional came in her home state at the 2020 Colorado Open on a minor Tour. Many of the best players in the world were forced to play in minor Tour events following the suspension of the LPGA Tour due to Coronavirus – Kupcho capitalized on the unfortunate circumstances.

Today's Golfer What's In The Bag is brought to you in association with Callaway Chrome Tour and Chrome Tour X golf balls.

Also in the field with Kupcho, when she won in Denver was Spain’s Carlota Ciganda, who finished second that week. After winning in Colorado the American had a little wait until her next victory which came in 2022. This wasn’t only her first win on the LPGA Tour, it also saw her become a Major Champion.

Major Champion, Jennifer Kupcho pictured with the Chevron Championship trophy after emerging victorious in 2022 for her first LPGA Tour victory.

The Colorado-born golfer won the 2022 Chevron Championship, beating Jessica Korda by two strokes. Despite carding a 74 for the final round, Kupcho did enough and hung on to claim her first win of 2022 – that year she went on to win another two LPGA Tour tournaments.

Her second victory of 2022 came at the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give, she won in a playoff against Nelly Korda and Leona Maguire. Her third of 2022 and most recent victory was at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational where she and fellow-American Lizette Salas won by five strokes over Finland’s Matilda Castren and Malaysia’s Kelly Tan.

Before turning professional back in 2019, Kupcho had a very successful amateur career, spending 34 weeks as the No.1 ranked amateur in the world across three separate occasions. At the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur, Kupcho emerged victorious – another impressive accolade to add to the NCAA Division I Championship she won in 2018 while at Wake Forest University.

This season on Tour has been a very mixed bag for Kupcho. No wins, two top 10s, and five missed cuts so far this season, but the American still did enough to earn a spot on the USA Solheim Cup Team.

Kupcho was part of the losing team on home turf in 2021. Around Inverness Club, she had a positive record, but she couldn’t emulate the same form this time round and once again tasted defeat after Europe retained the Solheim Cup.

The 28th world-ranked golfer is part of Ping’s Tour team, carrying a full bag of the brand’s equipment. But let’s see exactly what configuration she has.

What’s In The Bag: Jennifer Kupcho

What driver does Jennifer Kupcho use?

Jennifer Kupcho uses a Ping G425 LST driver (10.5°) with a Tour AD XC 5 Stiff shaft

Price: £450.00 / $549.99 RRP
Jennifer Kupcho has had the new Ping G430 in the bag for stints since it was released, but just like Viktor Hovland, she has reverted back to the previous model, Ping G425 LST. This season she hasn't been the best off the tee, ranking very middle of the pack in distance and accuracy.

What fairway wood does Jennifer Kupcho use?

Jennifer Kupcho uses a Ping G430 LST fairway wood (15°) with a Fujikura Atmos TS Blue 6 Stiff shaft

Price: £350.00 / $349.99 RRP
Since the Ping G430 launched, Kupcho hasn't looked back. From the moment she could get her hands on the Ping G430 LST fairway wood she's had it in the bag. It's a very good servant off the tee as a replacement if the driver isn't behaving.

What hybrids does Jennifer Kupcho use?

Jennifer Kupcho has two Ping G430 hybrids (22° & 26°) with a Tour AD DI-75 Stiff shaft and a Tour AD DI-85 Stiff shaft

Rrp: $299.00

Price: $239.00
Alternative Retailers

$239.98
DICK'S Sporting Goods
$239.00
Some golfers absolutely love hybrids and others can't get away with them. Kupcho is definitely a golfer who loves them! She previously had the Ping G410 hybrids in the bag but made the switch to the Ping G430 when they were available.

Her setup with the hybrids is perhaps unconventional with such a big gap between her 15° fairway wood and her 26° hybrid being identical to her 5-iron. However, I'm not going to argue with a Major Champion.

What irons does Jennifer Kupcho use?

Jennifer Kupcho plays with Ping i210 irons (5-9) with Project X IO 6.0 shafts

Kupcho is another Ping Tour pro who has elected to continue using the i210 irons. Fellow LPGA Tour player and Solheim Cup teammate including Ally Ewing is another golfer who has stuck with Ping's previous model better player irons.

There are some players who've made the switch including Allisen Corpuz who'll also be joining Kupcho and Ewing in Andalucia this September.

Jennifer Kupcho has two Ping i230 irons (PW & UW) with Project X IO 6.0 shafts

Price: £180.00 / $190.00 RRP (per club)
Not all of Kupcho's irons are Ping i210's, she has the pitching wedge and utility wedge from the i230 range. There are a few golfers who've also done this, including Leona Maguire, a fellow LPGA Tour player and opposing player in the Solheim Cup.

It's hard to class this as a combo set but there must be a good reason for the mix - potentially ranking 4th this season for GIR is a good indicator as to why she's stuck with it all year.

What wedges does Jennifer Kupcho use?

Jennifer Kupcho uses a set of two Ping Glide Forged Pro wedges 54°/S and 58°/S with Project X IO 6.0 shafts

Ping offers a wide variety of wedges and their Tour players use every single model available to the public. Kupcho opts for the Ping Glide Forged Pro wedges which have helped her find GIR 73.47% of the time in 2023. These are the most premium wedges ping offer, hence why they are in the bags of so many other players - including Linn Grant.

What putter does Jennifer Kupcho use?

Jennifer Kupcho has a Ping PLD Kushin Prototype putter in the bag

Price: $449.00
Alternative Retailers
DICK'S Sporting Goods
$449.00
Unfortunately, the putter in Kupcho's bag isn't available to the public - yet. There is a possibility this will be released alongside the other putters in the very popular PLD range. The American's putting doesn't appear to be massively impressive this year, but she has made more eagles than anyone else on the LPGA Tour this season (12) showing she can be clutch when needed.

The PLD Kushin used by Kupcho isn't yet available to the public but you can pick up other Ping PLD putters - the closest being the PLD Anser D.

What golf balls does Jennifer Kupcho use?

Yet again, another professional golfer with Titleist Pro V1 golf balls as their first choice. Ping doesn't manufacture golf balls anymore, but it would have to be very impressive to pry Kupcho away from Titleist's best golf balls and the No.1 golf balls in professional golf.
