What’s in the bag of PGA and European Tour winner Lucas Herbert?

Big-hitting Lucas Herbert picked up his first PGA Tour win (and $1.5m) with victory at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, holding off Masters champion Patrick Reed to clinch the title.

Victory took the Australian to a career-high 43rd in the World Golf Rankings and based on his performances in 2021 that number is only going to continue to improve.

Herbert’s potential has never been in doubt but the 25-year-old has really started to deliver on that over the last two years, winning the 2020 Dubai Desert Classic and 2021 Irish Open on the European Tour before tasting victory in Bermuda. He also has top-five finishes at the Scottish Open and Boise Open to his name this year.

The Aussie’s latest win also ensures he’ll make his long-awaited Masters debut at Augusta National Golf Club in 2022, the only Major he has yet to tee it up in.

Herbert is a long-time TaylorMade staff player, with his entire bag made up of the brand’s clubs. Unusually, he doesn’t carry a 5-iron, feeling the distance gap between his 4-iron and 6-iron (along with his ability to play different shots with those clubs) doesn’t justify it. This allows him to alternate between a 5-wood and driving iron at the top of his bag or make use an extra wedge.

Another unusual thing about Herbert’s clubs is the lie angle, which is exactly same (58º) in every club.
