What’s In The Bag: Darren Clarke
Last updated:
We delve into the bag of Darren Clarke, only the fourth man in history to win both The Open Championship and The Senior Open Championship.
Clarke joined Gary Player, Sir Bob Charles, and Tom Watson as the only men to achieve the feat with his dramatic victory at Gleneagles.
The Northern Irishman, who had missed the cut at the previous week’s 150th Open Championship, held off fellow former Open champion and Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington on a soaking King’s Course to lift his second Claret Jug.
The 53-year-old, whose final round was hit by a lengthy weather delay in the middle of the back nine, stayed switched on to post a one-under 69, including a monster two-putt on the final hole, and win the tournament by a single shot for his first Senior Major victory.

Clarke’s victory came 11 years after he shocked the golf world to lift the Claret Jug at Royal St George’s at the 20th attempt.
Let’s take a look at the equipment Clarke used for his victory in Auchterarder.
