What we say...
Technology
Traction Control wedges feature a groove crafted with laser-etched, micro-spin enhancers for increased control. Now in black PVD finish and two sole options. Designed to help golfers of all abilities play a variety of shots around the green by incorporating Traction Control face technology. The face is made up of an exclusive Tour-Y Groove design and 11 laseretched micro-spin enhancers between each scoreline to provide maximum spin on both full and half approach shots. A new Tour Frosted finish on the head reduces glare and provides a durable, premium look to the seven different wedges. There are also two different sole designs to ensure golfers can find the club to suit their swing. A Traditional sole model features optimal width and camber for those with a medium-to-steep swing, while the Tour Grind sole is best suited to players with a medium-to-shallow attack and those who like to use a variety of shots closer to the green.
“The FG Tour TC wedge provides Tourquality performance with the new groove design, but also great versatility thanks to the different sole options available,” said Michael Vrska, Global Director of R&D, Wilson Golf. “We’re proud to bring Traction Control technology to not only our Tour players, but also low-handicap amateurs who want the Tour-proven look, sound and feel in their short game.”

As reviewed in our 2015 Wedges Test:
James Ridyard
This wedge has a very square leading edge and quite a compact, shallow head, all of which I like. A well-designed head with some nice chamfered edges, and a fairly versatile grind. Good performer.
Duncan Lennard
The face gripped the ball well, and is almost three colours; it’ll be a bit busy for some, but I liked the way it made the grooves stand out. Didn’t enjoy opening the face up on the standard sole, possibly due to the uniform sole width. Tour grind option gives more versatility.
As reviewed in our 2014 Wedges Test: A compact head and premium look. Wedge grip creates useful reference points when gripping down. The new tour grind has an aggressive convex shape to the sole, but has the bounce located halfway back, so it’s versatile and forgiving. Has a really sleek, stylish design and the PVD finish was durable. Could play all the shots with the new grind. I like the slimline head but the all-black back lacks shelf appeal. Wedge grip is a nice touch.
As reviewed in our 2013 Wedges Test: James felt this was a cracking head design. He loved the “grooves between the grooves” and got plenty of spin. The contrast between the face and the rest of the clubhead frames the ball nicely and all testers liked the reference the wedge grip gave. Joel also got high levels of spin with this wedge, especially out of the sand. Kit felt the less-rounded shape made it look clunky and Chris felt the extra spin made the ball launch lower, but consistently so. Instruction Editor Kit Alexander says: “The wedges look fantastic and sit really nicely behind the ball. The relatively straight leading edge inspires confidence that you can open up the clubface and play a number of different shots, but there is also enough bounce to make the wedge forgiving out of bunkers and from wet lies. Versatile and effective.”
