What we say...
Tested: May 2011
A solid, if unspectacular, performance. It excelled from further out, but the guys seemed to lack control around the green. Chris loved the overall look of the wedge.
Results (out of 5):
Spin: 7,733 rpm Looks: 3.3 Feel: 3.1 Sound: 3.4 Just off green: 2.3 From 75 yards: 2
Test 2010
A decent display from Snake Eyes, with John (HCP 17) enjoying the traditional look of the wedge. Chris (HCP 15) was also impressed with its aesthetics, noting that the look at address helped to inspire confidence in his usually-dubious short game.
Both pro Tom and Tony (HCP 8) got 4 ex.5 from 65 yards, but John and Chris struggled with distance control. Tony also wasn’t a fan of the slightly lighter feel, which he felt was detrimental when hitting longer shots.
Results (out of 5):
Backspin 3.5, Carry: 3, Looks: 3.9, Feel: 3.7, Consistent Strike: 3.9, 65-yard test: 3.3, Around the green: 3.9
The soft carbon steel material which it’s forged from helps to optimise feel, while the extra large milled box grooves also help to generate spin.
The wedge also features a CNC Milled face that ensures flatness across it as well as increasing friction between it and the ball, which gives more spin
The Tour-influenced grind of the soles takes material from both the heel and the toe of the wedge, giving it excellent versatility for shot making under a variety of turf and sand conditions.
The faces are finely CNC milled for maximum spin across the entire impact surface and completed with CNC grooves that are the maximum volume dimensions allowable by the USGA and R&A, for outstanding spin control around the greens.
