What we say...

Technology
Nike’s 2014 wedge range includes two different models – VR X3X Toe Sweep and Dual Wide Sole. The former is a dramatic design with a large amount of heel relief which lets you really open clubface at address. It should come into its own in sand or from tangly grass. It also has a much wider toe area. The Dual Wide has relief towards the heel and toe, which helps launch the ball higher with more spin. Both have a satin-chrome finish. Only the Dual Wide comes in 52°. Two new high-trajectory sole grinds. The innovative new Toe Sweep Grind has a wide sole at the toe and a narrow sole at the heel for enhanced versatility.

Tested
As reviewed in our 2014 Wedges Test:
The toe sweep looks doesn’t look versatile yet when opened up the toe sits close enough to the ground to hit flop shots from all but the barest of lies. It prevents any digging which means you can be aggressive. The toe sweep promotes a skid rather than a dig, ideal for those who are steep into the ball. Worked especially well from bunkers. Standard grind is wide and rounded, great for full shots, easy to launch with consistent levels of bite.
