Mizuno MP-T10 Wedge Review

The MP-T and MP-R series wedges we tested last time had been around a while, so it was time Mizuno produced a solid replacement. They haven’t just done that – they’ve produced an absolute cracker! Indeed it was universally acclaimed by our panel.

Tom eked out more backspin with this model than any other wedge thanks to the lovely Quad Cut grooves. The more advanced manufacturing tolerance ensures groove width and depth are consistently pushed to their legal limit.

Tom also noted the versatility of the wedge around the green, possibly helped by the fact Mizuno say the leading edge is especially tight to the ground.

Chris was very consistent with the MP-T10, while John liked the higher-spinning Black Satin version. He also felt that, for a 17-handicapper such as himself, this was incredibly easy to use.

Mizuno suggest it is aimed at low and mid handicappers but our man had no problem controlling it and was very impressed by how versatile it was compared to his current wedges…which were older Mizunos!

Tony had a slight concern about the black finish – he was worried that the benefits of being black (i.e. it was dull and did not reflect bright sunlight) would diminish the longer you used it as it became more shiny. But he too thought it was a well-balanced club, being easy to use and superbly versatile.

Overall it was a real stand-out performance from the MP-T10 and a welcome return to the wedge-test podium for a Mizuno scoring club.
