What we say...

The Callaway Mack Daddy CB wedge is designed to enhance forgiveness and sit perfectly alongside a set of cavity back irons.

We’re big fans of the message that if you play cavity back irons then you really should be playing cavity back wedges, and we know it’s a message that’s struck a chord with club golfers. Callaway are now joining the cavity back wedge conversation, along with Cleveland (CBX 2), Ping (Glide 3.0) and TaylorMade (Hi-Toe Big Foot).

Callaway say the CB wedges have been designed to sit perfectly alongside a set of cavity back irons and offer more forgiveness over their tour-level models, which means you can still be precise even when you don’t make perfect contact.

What you need to know about the Callaway Mack Daddy CB wedge

Take the guesswork out of grinds

We get a lot of questions about which wedge sole grinds club golfers should choose, so with the CB Callaway’s wedge maestro Roger Cleveland has made the decision for you. Lower lofts have a full sole grind, with moderate bounce to give iron-like turf interaction. Mid and higher lofts have a modified W (wide) grind to add forgiveness from bunkers and give a low leading edge when opening the face.

Optimisation

The CB are designed to blend seamlessly with a set of game-improvement irons. The heads are a little larger, there’s a deep cavity back, and a thicker top edge, so you get the confidence of an iron with the control of a wedge. There’s also a longer grip so you can choke down for better distance control.

Get into the groove

Callaway like all wedge makers fuss about every conceivable angle and detail when it comes to wedge grooves. Having perfected different shape and size grooves for different lofts on their MD5 tour level wedges Callaway are unleashing the same idea on the CB too. The grooves on the 54°, 56°, 58° and 60° lofts (sand and lob wedges) also extend across the entire face ensuring maximum spin no matter where shots are hit.
