What we say...
The Tech:
Yonex’s “Octaforce” tech reduces weight in the crown and frees up mass which is repositioned to lower and deepen the centre of gravity. A wider head shape increases MOI while modern crown graphics highlight your aim, alignment and focus.
Our verdict:
It’s really interesting how different the Z-Force is compared to Yonex’s XPG hybrid. The shaft’s 1” shorter in length and the head looks like it’s much more squashed from above so its wider and closer to a fairway wood size. The shorter shaft length allowed us to attack shots really aggressively, which increased spin to one of the highest on test, meaning the Z-Force was always going to struggle to compete on distance alone. Put distance aside and we really liked it. Even the wacky crown graphics framed the ball at address really nicely and disguised how big the head really is.
Bottom line:
All testers agreed they could hit the Z Force really consistently, which is great for a £99 hybrid. It feels solid, sounds solid and certainly won’t let you down if you’re wanting to hit high flighted, soft landing approaches with your hybrids.
