Wilson Staff FYbrid Review

The new FYbrids fuse fairway woods and hybrids into one easy to understand family of fairway utilities. Progressive loft and club length variations make club selection easier and give consistent distance gaps between clubs. The series is made up of two fairway woods (15° & 18°), a bridging club (19.5°), and three FYbrids (21°, 24°, 27°). UST V2 shafts as standard. Flex A/R/S Steel head, graphite shaft, gents, right hand, left hand.

2009 Review

A consistent performer across all areas, the FyBrid produced a fairly penetrating flight which performed well from tight lies and light rough. Roger described it as “fantastic” from the longer grass. Chris liked the way it sat at address and thought it was pretty forgiving but wasn’t as sure about the performance from heavy rough. Jon liked its simple looks and the lower ball flight. It wasn’t the longest on test but the traditional shape and forgiveness on off-centre hits ensured this was a popular club with all the testers.

2010 Review:

This was a great performer in David’s hands with high marks across the board, including distance and dispersion. He commented on the versatility of the club from the rough, fairway and off the tee. Pro James and Chris were also big fans,
liking the more traditional shape and piercing ball flight. This would have been contending for awards if Mark hadn’t struggled a little with it and marked it down on forgiveness.
