What we say...
The Tech:
Titleist say the T-MB is for golfers needing high launch and long carry but prefer the look of a blade. The hollow wood like construction means there’s a thin fast clubface for strong ball speed performance and plenty of tungsten weighting in the toe and heel for superior MOI performance.
Our verdict:
Titleist position the T-MB within their irons range but it’s only available in 4 lofts (which are the same lofts that golfers consider hybrids) so we’ve included them in our hybrids category. Titleist certainly weren’t joking saying the T-MB’s are for golfers who prefer a blade look. The heads are what you’d expect of a traditional blade, but extreme tungsten weighting in the toe and heel mean the MOI performance is significantly better. TG Editor Chris Jones, reckons he can’t play with chunky irons (even though his handicap suggests he should) absolutely loved the look and performance. Straight off the bat seeing how more spin than a typical long iron made the club more playable and optimised flight consistency, perfectly filling a loft gap between his hybrid and 5 iron.
Bottom line:
An option many golfers probably haven’t yet considered at the top end of the bag. We’re big fans of only carrying clubs you’re confident in hitting well and if that means ditching your 4 or 5 iron and replacing it with a T-MB or Ping Crossover then why not?
