TaylorMade Rescue Mid TP Hybrid Review

Welcome a new version of the Rescue Mid for better players. This is the baby the tour players are using… the exact specification. The Tour Preferred is expensive, but if you buy one, go for graphite. The Fujikura shaft is as good as you’ll find on any golf club.

This is perhaps the odd one out in this test because I feel this is an out and out better-players’ club. The nature of its design makes it more of an alternative to a fairway wood, rather than something that is going to get you out of trouble.

Don’t get me wrong here, this is one classy piece of kit, but the way in which the TP performs will suit the power and repeatable swing of a good golfer. The standard Rescue Mid, which is the benchmark for all manufacturers to emulate, is the club Mr and Mrs Average should have on their shopping lists.

And, you never know.  Get yourself a single-figure handicap and you could treat yourself to one of these. That will give you something positive to aim for.

Verdict: For 10 handicappers and below. High handicapper, admire from a distance or buy a standard Rescue Mid instead. However, the TP is the most refined rescue club we’ve come across.”
