TaylorMade RBZ Stage 2 Tour TP Hybrid Review

  • TG Rating 4.2 out of 5

  • Pros

One of the longest on test. Hot and hollow impact sensation. Forgiving, too.

  • Cons

Unique crown isn’t for everyone. Little to distinguish good strikes from bad.

The 2013 Balls Test

The Tour version of this model doesn’t immediately appear as compact as other Tour versions. That said, James liked how the Tour version retained a similar shape to the standard version, but was shorter from heel to toe. The shaft in the standard version felt like one of the longest on test at 40.75 inches and went very high while the Tour version came hot off the face, had a powerful sound, retained a penetrating flight and flew seriously long. The graphics made alignment easier.

Antony wasn’t a fan of the overall appearance, the graphics putting him off, and he struggled to differentiate between the two versions. Both launch high with low spin, but he preferred the compact size of the Tour version at address. Matt embraced the unique look and was impressed by the forgiveness on offer, with off-centre hits flying further than well-struck shots with other models. This was by far the longest hybrid on test, featuring in the top two for all three testers in distance while maintaining admirable dispersion levels. Note: the 18.5˚ Tour model tested was adjusted to 20˚.

Improved Speed Pocket, reconfigured CG location and shallower profile provide faster ball speeds. Tour version features adjustable hosel to change the loft by +/- 1.5˚.
