Today’s Golfer Hybrid Test 2011

Tested: July 2011
Testing panel:
Chris Ryan (Belfry Pro)
Leon Iacono (HCP 4)
David Connor (HCP 10)
Ben Miles (HCP 17)

Chris said he could happily go out and put it into play straight away. He said it felt very easy to hit but gave great feedback as well, something he doesn’t always associate with game improver clubs. Dave said it felt fast off the face and was one of the most forgiving clubs on test but admitted he wouldn’t feel that confident using it off the tee due to the high flight. Ben agreed with this and noticed how the high flight aff ected his distance although he said it was extremely forgiving.

Today’s Golfer Hybrid Test 2010

The Snake Eyes QS4 hybrid impressed every tester. Jon loved the clean, simple looks while Chris thought it looked like a better player’s club that was easier to use. All the testers found it easy to pick balls up out of the rough and Chris and David loved the higher ball flight – which they achieved without losing distance. In truth, Snake Eyes has been making good clubs for quite a while, with a real expertise in wedges and players’ irons. The Snake Eyes QS4 rescue club is a terrific option if you’re looking for something under £100 that offers playability and forgiveness.

These are Snake Eyes Customs fourth generation Quick Strike utility woods.

The QS4-U is a compact hybrid head design with a slight amount of offset to the hosel. It incorporates four perimeter weight ports that concentrate weight around the skirt of the head.

In addition to the extra port mass are inserts made of tungsten-rubber which not only adds reinforcement weight but also assists in vibration dampening.

The face is designed with variable thickness to provide a 'hot feel' even when hit off-centre. A concave sole design helps reduce surface friction over a wide variety of turf conditions and the sole to turf surface contact area is reduced by 27% compared to the sole to turf contact of a standard hybrid metal.
