What we say...

The Tech:

An extremely thin crown means more weight has been repositioned for a higher launch with less spin. A compression channel behind the face amplifies performance on miss hits while a tour authentic shape combines forgiveness, workability and playability.

Our verdict:

Nike say they involved Francesco Molinari in the Fly’s design as he’s such a fan of hybrids. We’re not sure if it’s intentional but what Nike have created is a hybrid that’s right in the middle between a wide and narrow body design. Across the board we felt the Fly was powerful as shots zipped off the clubface, and it didn’t disappoint on the numbers either, recording the joint highest ball speed on test (with the Callaway XR OS). By getting to within 5 yards of the longest carry of any hybrid on test, gives some credence to Nike’s Fly Beam tech which stiffens up the head to increase impact efficiency.

Bottom line:

A very strong numbers performance from the Fly. Yes the heads blue which will divide opinion but we reckon it’s time to see past the paint colour and look at the performance, which if you can is very impressive.
