What we say...

Every year MD’S gear seems to get better and better, so when the boys over the Irish Sea gave us a call about their new range of Superstrong woods, we were eagerly anticipating the delivery of some samples. We weren’t disappointed when they landed.

The hybrids – an absolute bargain at less than £75 per club – offer similarly impressive performances. Like the driver, the hybrid features a tungsten weight screw in the sole to lower the centre of gravity for a higher ball flight and it was a real stand-out performer.

It just seemed to go forever, and hang in the air too – perfect for attacking those par 5s and, in my case, par 4s too from the fairway and rough. I also used it reasonably effectively off the tee, but I would suggest its best performance came off the deck.

All the woods feature a super colourful yellow Proforce 65 shaft which stands out a mile – it won’t be a hit with everyone, but I thought it looked great on what screams ‘premium product’.

We always bang on about the price of MD Golf gear but the fact is we reckon they could charge more for it and still sell the same amount. It’s that good! So if you’re on a budget, you’ll be in safe hands with their woods; superb, and won’t break the bank.

What more could you ask for in this expensive modern world?

First Impressions

Pros: Stunning matt black finish belies the price and with performance to match.
Cons: I liked the bright shaft and felt it gave a premium feel, but it might not appeal to all golfers.

2012 saw the Superstrong hybrid pick up numerous golfing awards. For 2013 MD Golf has maintained the same shape but provided the club with a new look which ensures the award winning performance is kept

The club features a deeper face and an extra 1.5mm of offset over standard hybrids which means that golfers of all abilities are sure to gain significant benefit over hard to hit long irons.

As with the woods the club comes fitted with a Proforce 63 as standard, with loft options in 18, 21 and 24 degrees and a UST Multi Compound yellow  and black grip.
