What we say...
The Tech:
Adam’s reckon the Red’s smaller head (95cc) gives additional versatility and means they can be hit from any situation. Adam’s upside down head technology lowers the CG promoting easy launch, whilst a velocity slot helps maximise ball speed. Three interchangeable sole weights (1 x25g and 2 x 2g) offer additional shot flight bias.
Our verdict:
Very similar to the original Adams hybrids that were so favoured by tour players. The narrow body delivers a flatter more penetrating ball flight, and we reckon you need to be confident and attack shots aggressively to get the best launch out of this narrow head. Our test pro thought for him it would come in useful from the tee when he didn’t want to hit driver but to be fair to the Red we saw virtually no drop off in ball speed even when shots were hit nearly 1.5cm out of the toe. Which says despite the narrow head its got a good degree of forgiveness.
Bottom line:
The head looks miniscule at address as the shafts quite long which is a look lots of club golfers will find intimidating. If you’ve got a decent swing speed and really want a very flat penetrating flight the Red can certainly deliver it.
