What we say...
Tech:
The XPG’s futuristic hollow head raises MOI for increased forgiveness on off centre strikes. The offset hosel and bold alignment aid help you aim squarely at the hole while a soft face insert ensures great feel and distance control. Winn’s huge 1.60” grip comes as standard.
Our verdict:
We weren’t expecting much of the XPG pulling it from its headcover, but it just goes to prove we shouldn’t base opinions on looks alone. Yes the XPG’s a bit wacky with a hollow body and alignment aid that doesn’t connect to the face, but as far as stability and feel go we reckon it was nicely balanced and capable of holding its own in the MOI stakes for those that aren’t brand lead. Toe hang is slight which means its suited to quite a wide audience of golfers but the huge Winn grip won’t be to everyone’s taste even though they are widely accepted nowadays.
Bottom line:
On looks alone the XPG won’t turn many heads. We reckon it’s a putter you need to pick up and put into action to realise its actually very stable, forgiving and can boast of decent feel to boot.
