What we say...

Tech:

A traditional toe and heel weighted blade style putter with a modern milled anti-slip groove face which Yonex say gives a responsive feel and improved accuracy. A black PVD finish eliminates glare at address.

Our verdict:

No golfer in the real world walks into a golf shop with the sole intention of buying a Yonex putter. Instead they’re an impulse purchase, if your own putter’s misbehaving or you want to match your putter to your new set of irons. Yonex don’t advertise their putters and they certainly don’t market themselves as a serious putter brand. But that definitely doesn’t mean their putters aren’t designed with the same care and attention to detail as their woods and irons. Yes the Elite is a narrow body blade which we’ve all seen tons of times before, but if you’re after a very reasonable sub £90 blade it’s difficult to fault. We really liked the tiny grip size, it’s a welcome change to the oversized models adorning many new putters. The head’s quite shallow, with most of the putter below the equator of the golf ball, which gave the sensation of hitting up on putts and getting a really true roll.

Bottom line:

Compared to the most expensive blades there’s a 255% discrepancy in price. If you’re not brand led and only look cold heartedly at performance, you know it’s not possible to get 255% more performance from a more expensive putter. Which for us has to say the Elite’s a decent 2017 blade.
