What we say...

Wilson’s 888 putter series is well known to golfers, but they are certainly on the small end of the scale when it comes to size. The company launched a new Vizor mallet last year, and have now backed it up with the introduction of a ‘blade’ version.

The first thing to say is that it’s not a blade in the most traditional sense and that’s because of the innovative alignment aid dubbed the I-Lock technology. It positions your eyes over the line of the putt for improved results, and Wilson Staff say the system increases consistency in both eye alignment and putting direction by 20 per cent.

I’ve frustratingly been a bit iffy with the flatstick in recent years – well, in fact over the last 20 years if I’m totally honest – so anything that can help give me a bit more confidence on the green, I’m more than happy to give it a go.

So I was interested in the concept of the I-Lock. I understood it, but was less sure whether it definitely helped me significantly. I certainly felt a little happier over the ball knowing that my eyes were in the right spot though.

What most impressed me was the feel off the face though – the soft urethane insert is a real winner, and the consistency of roll was really impressive. I also found it hugely successful on longer putts – I really struggle on lengthy efforts and anything over 30-35 feet can often result in a three putt primarily because of a dodgy first attempt.

The final point to raise is the price – the RRP is just £109 and when the likes of Ping and Scotty Cameron are offering some of their models for more than double this, I think the guys at Wilson Staff should be commended for making a decent putter without the heavy price tag.

Constant practice can only be helped by a consistent eye position. No wonder thatthe Wilson Staff Vizor Blade Golf Putter has come up trumps with I-Lock technology to lock into the perfect putting position time after time. In addition, the aluminium body provides outstanding feedback to give you the ultimate golf and putting experience.

This Wilson Staff Vizor Geometric Blade Golf Putter also features an aluminium body for soft feel, stainless steel periphery for MOI and stability, a urethane face insert - tuned to match the hardness of a golf ball, a one year guarantee and a headcover.
