What we say...
The big, chunky head of the Wilson Staff 8873 putter looks comforting behind the ball. It’s a design that lends itself to those with a straight back-and-through action who can concentrate on a smooth takeaway and power the head through to the hole.
The face is milled and there is a polymer insert, but the design feels a bit boring compared to other all-singing, all-dancing models. If you’re a Wilson Staff fan, the 8873 won’t let you down; if you’re not, others should be catching your eye, even at this price.
2009 Review
Both Chris N and Pete rated this mallet offering pretty highly, with Pete enjoying the quality of roll he got from the TPU urethane insert. Jon wasn’t as keen but still canned an impressive four out of five short putts in the performance department.
