Scotty Cameron Select Fastback Putter Review:

You should know

A mid-mallet that’s precision milled in the USA by Scotty’s team of craftsmen. A soft wrap around aluminium insert and sole help raise MOI. New for 2018 is refined head shaping, a new four way sole to help golfers set up square more often and a single sightline, which Scotty says gives a tour preferred look at address.

Scotty Cameron Select Fastback Putter Review: We say

We can argue for hours about who’s the best putter designer in the world, but it’s difficult to look past Scotty Cameron if your criteria includes money, events won and the amount of tour pro’s using his models. Let’s not forget too he’s probably spent more time than any other designer working with the very best players in the world like Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth right when they’ve been at their very best on the short grass.

We loved the Newport M1 in last years Top Gear test and the new Fastack is very similar. It’s a first class ultra-stable mallet which as you’d expect feels fantastic and even though it doesn’t have any face groove tech like many modern designs rolls putts just as smoothly as the very best.

Do putter face grooves really make a difference?

Scotty Cameron Select Fastback Putter Review: Verdict

All three testers agreed the single sightline was a decent step forward from the pop-through “cross-hair” set up last year. All in the M1’s an beautiful mid-mallet design, and thanks to its stability-improving tech is an excellent blend of premium looks, feel and performance. Scotty’s never come cheap and a £30 price hike from last year means the Fastback is just £4 less than a TaylorMade M4 driver.
