What we say...
The Tech:
The finned back of the X7 increases perimeter weighting maximising stability and forgiveness. An aluminium sole and face removes weight from ineffective areas of the head whilst 15g weights in the toe and heel increase MOI performance. Titleist say the head shape is confidence inspiring too.
Our verdict:
The X7’s head is bigger than other putters in Scotty’s range and that’s because he knows increased size means extra forgiveness. There’s some interesting optical tricks with black and white sections and lines on the back of the X7 to help you align squarely and impact putts on the centre of the face. There’s no doubting the performance of the winged back design when teamed with such a lightweight sole and face unit and a couple of stability improving sole weights. It is as you’d expect from Scotty absolute quality.
Bottom line:
Scotty’s picked up on the importance of the role MOI plays in increased putting performance early, which means the X7 not only bears his classy cosmetics but it also has the ability to help stabilise a wonky putting stroke too.
