What we say...

TaylorMade’s TP Red Collection Chaska putter made it in to our top 10 mallets of 2018 in our biggest ever equipment test – Top Gear. Find out what our testers made of it below.

TaylorMade TP Red Collection Chaska Putter Review:

You should know

Jason Day was the first to use a red putter but the ideas took the tour by storm in 2017. The red heightens contrast against a greens surface which TaylorMade say helps align the putter squarely. A Pure Roll aluminium face insert optimises forward roll in this forgiving wide body mallet.

TaylorMade TP Red Collection Chaska Putter Review: We say

Avid TaylorMade putter fans might recognise the Chaska’s head shape. Back when white putters were hotter than red it used to be called the Corza. It’s full mallet design is a very solid and reliable shape mixing a degree of stability and alignment ideas into a decent neat little package.

Our testers couldn’t agree whether we loved the three alignment stripes, Simon was in the ‘yes’ camp reckoning the belt and bracers approach of outlining the extremities of the ball and the centre of the face was useful for setting up correctly more often. But our test pro reckoned he’d prefer either the centre of the face to be highlighted or the extremities of the ball but not both. Either way the Chaska’s a sound mallet option particularly for owners of a straight back and through putting stroke.

Do putter face grooves really make a difference?

TaylorMade TP Red Collection Chaska Putter Review: Verdict

In all honesty the Chaska wasn’t any testers favourite mallet or red putter model, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be perfect for lots of club golfers. If you haven’t seen the head shape before the Chaska is an excellent blend of looks, stability, and all-round solid putting performance.
