What we say...
The Tech:
Go bigger get better say Taylomade with the OS. The thinking being that Oversized heads are more stable and thanks to removing ineffective weight inside the head, MOI is increased to lower the effect of off centre hits.
Our verdict:
There’s no getting around it the OS is a big old putter when its sat behind the ball on the green. There’s a reason why it’s so big and that’s to increase MOI which there’s little doubt the bigger head does. But for some the trade off in size for performance will be unpalatable. If you can see past the big size, feel and end-over-end roll from the deep milled face insert is fantastic. The longer red alignment line makes it easy to see where you’re aiming, while the slight toe hang and full shaft of offset will suit a wide audience of putting strokes
Bottom line:
Taylormade have gone bravely out on a limb with the OS models, which should be applauded. Whilst we’re fans of the Daytona and Spider models we struggled to appreciate the Monte Carlo quite so warmly.
