What we say...

PXG 0211 putters have a runway lighting inspired alignment aid to help golfers aim better and swing the putter more consistently, they’re also more affordable.

With 2021 being the year lots of new and returning golfers are flooding into the game, PXG could not have picked a better time to introduce their first reasonably priced gear family, the 0211’s, containing a range of the best putters.

PXG 0211 drivers are currently £205 a pop, the 0211 irons are £80 each (that’s £560 for a 4 – PW set) and with golfers lapping up the excellent value for money 0211 fairways and hybrids too, PXG reckon timing is perfect to introduce a 0211 putter family.

PXG owner Bob Parsons is really passionate about helping golfers play better golf, so whilst the 0211 family don’t have all the hosel options and customisable weight tech found in the brands brilliant Battle Ready Putter Collection, inspiration has been taken from the lighting found on airport runways to help players set-up more consistently and aim better.

PXG say the 0211 putters runway lighting alignment feature creates a more prominent arrow shape behind the face, which heightens awareness of face orientation and enhances control throughout the putting stroke. And to maximise impact of the design each new model also has a new more flared cavity back to accentuate the heads angled geometry.

Which as a by-product also means extra inefficient mass is removed from the centre of the head, so MOI forgiveness levels are naturally nudged up. Here’s what you need to know about each of the five new PXG 0211 putter models.

PXG 0211 Bayonet putter

The Bayonet is a traditionally shaped toe and heel weighted blade. The head is cast from 303 stainless steel (like all five 0211 putter models) and the plumber’s neck is very common for this style of putter. PXG say with mid-toe hang the Bayonet is a very good fit for players with slight arc strokes and mild amounts of face rotation. It can also be effective for slightly straighter and more arcing strokes too.

The Bayonet name comes from the dagger-like weapon that’s attached to the muzzle of a rifle. The versatile bayonet blade can also be removed and used in hand-to-hand combat when required.

PXG 0211 Hellcat putter

Loft: 3° / Offset: Full Shaft / Weight: 365g

Wide body blade putters are trending up with tour players and consumers as they give a slightly more friendly look at address over their slender narrow body cousins (like the Bayonet), as well as some extra forgiveness. The Hellcat’s wider body means the arrow shaped cavity design is extended, so there’s extra room to direct the eyes onto the desired impact location. There’s also a slightly heavier feel thanks to the extra head weight.

PXG say with mid-toe hang the Hellcat is a good fit for players with slight arc strokes and mild amounts of face rotation. It can also be effective for slightly straighter and more arcing strokes.

The Hellcat name comes from a fighter aircraft that’s well known for its high-altitude agility and impressive combat capability.

PXG 0211 Clydesdale putter

PXG have never been afraid of challenging the boundaries of what’s acceptable in golf, especially when there’s performance gains to be had. For a few years now their flared wing Mustang blade putter has offered a more forgiving solution to blade lovers, and the new Clydesdale takes inspiration from this model.

The Clydesdale is larger than the Mustang (Battle Ready Collection), it has the longest toe to heel dimension of all the 0211 models, which means additional forgiveness over the Bayonet. A plumbers neck gives mid-toe hang so the model is well suited to slight arc strokes, and like lots of blade style putters thanks to the length of the top rail it’s highly likely to fall into the hands of golfers who typically use the top rail to align at their target.

The name say PXG comes from the Clydesdale horse which is well known for its unmistakable markings and considerable size.

PXG 0211 Lightning putter

Loft: 3° / Offset: Half Shaft / Weight: 385g

Wider body mallet putters naturally lend themselves to longer alignment aids as there’s more space on the head to put them, so the new runway lighting alignment aid is exaggerated on this model.

The Lightning is an oversized mallet with a thicker top rail, its double bend shaft means its face balanced so it’s very well suited to straight-back and through putting strokes. The extra head weight is great for golfers looking to add some extra stability to their stroke, it also means the Lightning is well suited to year round golf on more average speed greens in the UK.

The Lightning is named after the fighter aircraft that’s famed for its speed, distinctive twin engined design and warfare versatility.

PXG 0211 V-42 putter

Loft: 3° / Offset: Half Shaft / Weight: 350g

PXG-0211-V-42-Putter

Mid-mallet, crescent shaped putters are just about as simple as putters come, they’ve been around for years and they’re still pretty popular. The V-42’s heel shaft hosel means the model has a significant amount of toe hang, so this head is best suited to strong arc putting strokes.

Where other putter models can work for more than one stroke type, from our experience at least, thanks to the V-42’s  extreme toe down weighting it will naturally fight against straighter strokes.

This compact mid-mallets name comes from the notorious V-42 narrow double-edged dagger that was designed for close combat.

There’s also a milled face pattern

PXG have used a pyramid face pattern on their putters for a few years now, as they say the shapes help bite into the balls surface at impact and improve launch and roll consistency, irrespective of where putts are hit on the face. PXG say their face pattern gives the feel and sound of an insert putter, whilst retaining the responsive feel of a milled face.

The 0211 face pattern is updated over previous models to deliver extra launch, spin and skid distance consistency, which can only help golfers reduce the amount of putts taken on the dance floor.
