What we say...

Technology
The Progen Chromo PT.2 mid-mallet putter is a traditional shaped putter with a modern twist. It sits perfectly and when combined with the soft insert you can feel more confident when you step on the tee. The CNC Milled face ensures that the face is perfectly flat. This makes it extremely accurate and consistent. The milled face also helps to get the ball rolling quicker with less skid, which gets a soft feel whilst helping you manage your distance control better.

Looks
Each putter head in the Progen Chromo range has a black finish which provides a fantastic contrast between the putter and the green. The top line of the putter features a single white and three alignment lines in the cavity to frame your ball perfectly. The line contrasts perfectly against the black putter head to make aligning your putts even easier for better consistency.

Reader Reviews:

● MP A perfectly acceptable design with decent alignment aids. I got ok consistency, but the strike wasn’t pleasing to my ear and left me bit nonplussed.

● JC This looks OK but I really struggled to control distance and the strike lacked that mellow crispness you look for.
I also had trouble getting it to sit well behind the ball.

● JCox Performance wasn’t too bad for direction and distance. Solid enough and good for the money but uninspiring.

● DL The impact sound is muted and arguably a little dull, but I found the putter quite easy to use and reasonably forgiving on off-centre hits. A pretty good option for the price.

Tested
As reviewed in our 2015 Putters TestSimilar to others using the three sight lines spaced quite far apart, but with more offset. Joining the middle lines on the two sections of the crown helps get the handle height and eye position correct. Has a hollow, clunky sound on long putts, but predictable roll. Will suit a wide range of players. A simple idea, relatively well executed. Feels light in the head, which led to over-active hands.

As reviewed in our 2013 Putter Test: This putter has a lot of offset with quite a skinny grip. Would help someone who misses left due to its mallet design, excessive alignment aids and mid toe hang. Joel said the alignment aids were too thick and spaced apart, but really liked the tacky grip. Ben said the way he needed to get the shaft upright to line up the lines on the two sections of the crown helped his posture.
