Ping Sigma G Piper 3 Putter Review: You Should Know
New milled aluminium face inserts have variable depth and width grooves to deliver consistent across the face ball speed performance, which Ping say helps reduce your 3-putt potential. Feel is enhanced by a high-energy elastomer insert behind the face, and a new PP60 grip naturally fits more into the palm and fingers, lightening grip pressure and tension.
Ping Sigma G Piper 3 Putter Review: We Say
Ping’s Sigma G range comes in 13 different head shapes along with a further two counterbalanced models, so it’s fair to say there’s a model to suit everyone. A slight toe hang means the Piper’s well suited to a slightly arcing stroke, and the fuss free appearance (there’s just two alignment stripes a golf balls width apart on the top) should attract a good deal of attention from putting purists.
We can’t say for sure the variable width and depth grooves helped us hole more putts but we did feel the Piper rolled putts along the greens surface alongside the very best, and all three testers thought the new grip size and shape was spot on.
Do putter face grooves really make a difference?
Ping Sigma G Piper 3 Putter Review: Verdict
There’s 5 mallets to choose from in the Sigma G range which opens them up to a very wide audience of golfers. The Piper might not be the most exciting putter design on the market but it is exceptionally solid across the board.
