Pros
Very little needed to do to hole putts – simply start the ball on the right line and let the product do the work.
What we say...
Sometimes, manufacturers can be guilty of over-complicating designs on their clubs and giving golfers too much to think about and too many distractions.
Ping, however, has continued to keep things simple and let the clubs do the talking. The Scottsdale Anser 2 is the epitome of simplicity, but packed full of game-changing innovation such as the alignment aid and the thermoplastic elastomer insert.
Dave actually felt this was the best insert on test and noted a brilliant performance on shorter putts, a vulnerable area for him. He felt that unlike some putters on test, there was very little needed to do to hole putts – simply start the ball on the right line and let the product do the work, which it seemed to do as he holed a maximum five from five.
Paul felt it wasn’t the most stylish on test, but any doubts were dismissed when he saw the performance – which was strong both on the six-foot line test and the longer putt touch assessment. James was hugely impressed too with the ease at which he rolled the lag putts up to the hole and his putting statistics from both distances showed how comfortable he was with the model. Andrew revealed that this putter was quickly elevated into the upper echelons of the putters tested, but feared it might be a little expensive.
Well, at £110, we think this offers exceptional value for money.

The Scottsdale putters’ thermoplastic elastomer insert and face applique provide a consistent response for distance control with a soft yet solid feel at impact for making an assured stroke. Perimeter weighting in every model provides a high MOI to keep your putts on line. Aiming is further enhanced with high-contrast alignment aids, and a long sightline.
This year Ping introduce seven new models: the Shea, Senita, Tomcat S, D66, ZB S, Mesquite and the Carefree.

What a difference the right putter can make, being a high handicapper i never looked at blade putters before as i assumed they were for better players, i got fitted and was told i had a slight arc to my swing, not the straight back and through i thought. i chose the ping scottsdale for quality and looks and the insert is excellent, lots of feel and ease of use, it sounds a bit cheesy but it really has took my putting up a notch or 2. Fantastic !! Thanks Ping !
