Toulon Design San Diego Putter Review: You need to know
There’s a new kid on the block when it comes to premium 100% CNC Milled putters, and that name is Sean Toulon. Since leaving TaylorMade he’s started his own premium putter business which Callaway bought last year. The San Diego has a deep diamond mill pattern on the face which Toulon says channels vibrations, improving sound, feel and the quality of roll imparted on the ball.
Toulon Design San Diego Putter Review: We say
It’s really difficult to quantify gains in performance when it comes to buying a premium putter just like it’s hard to say a pair of designer shoes perform better than a pair from Clarks. Whatever premium products we buy, they have to tug at our heart strings, win us over and convince us they’re worth every last penny. Unless they do we’re struggling to tell TG readers a £400 putter is better than a model for quarter of its price. We will though say the San Diego is a beautifully milled model and every bit as good (if we’re talking about engineering) as a Scotty Cameron or Bettinardi, so you really should be considering the three brands when looking at 100% CNC Milled putters.
Do putter face grooves really make a difference?
Toulon Design San Diego Putter Review: Verdict
The San Diego is beautifully created, it’s soft curved edges are just what lots of admirers of milled putters love. We can’t say for sure the science behind the diamond mill face pattern is better or it will help you hole more putts, but it looks amazing and delivers a lovely sound, feel and roll, just like Toulon promised.
