Toulon Design Indianapolis Putter Review: You need to know

Inspired by an Indy car, the aluminium, stainless steel and carbon composite Indianapolis boasts of a massive MOI. Two 25g tungsten weights on the wing tips increase stability and forgiveness (and can be switched to steel to reduce overall mass). Precise CG positioning (thanks to the construction method) enhances roll, a deep diamond mill-face pattern channels impact vibration to improve sound, feel and roll.

Toulon Design Indianapolis Putter Review: We say

There’s no arguing wing designs don’t seriously improve stability and MOI performance when it comes to putters, and the multi-material Indianapolis takes the concept to the extreme. Carbon fiber is entrenched in driver design, as it frees up weight other materials can’t, so it was only ever a matter of time before somebody brought the stuff to putters.

We reckon the Indy is a good MOI design, it sounds and feels great, but thanks to the carbon body it also feels incredibly light. We’d love to say because it’s three times the price of a some of our favourite models on test you’ll hole 3 times the putts, but as we all know it doesn’t quite work as logically as that with premium clubs.

Do putter face grooves really make a difference?

Toulon Design Indianapolis Putter Review: Verdict

Credit where it’s due, the Indianapolis is a decent model that’s pushing the boundaries of putter design, and we applaud it for being so bold. The issue for us is to buy into anything this premium you have to love the look and really want it. With the Indianapolis we just didn’t ever quite feel that warm, fussy feeling inside.
