What we say...
The Tech:
A soft 304 stainless steel head is combined with Nike’s RZN face insert to maximise feel and control. Each face groove is surrounded with a different blend of RZN to grab and grip the ball at impact to generate quicker forward roll. Toe and heel sole weights improve MOI performance.
Our verdict:
At address the Nike’s the height of simplicity. A simple black head is teamed with a single sight line for alignment which we think works really well. Nike aren’t renowned for putters but the Matter is nicely designed and very well put together, and if your stroke’s straight back and down the line its difficult to beat the Matter at this price point. There’s lots of offset to get your hands ahead of the ball which is a good position to putt well from, and we all really enjoyed the firm and crisp sound and feedback of putts on the RZN face insert too.
Bottom line:
A full on mallet with a much more traditional head and grip size than many alternatives on test. You might not have thought much about Nike putters before but the Method’s excellent combination of insert and groove tech with a very nice head shape at this price is well worth a second look.
