What we say...
The Tech:
A soft 304 stainless steel head is combined with Nike’s RZN face insert to maximise feel and control. Each face groove is surrounded by more RZN to grab and grip the ball at impact to generate quicker forward roll. Toe and heel sole weights improve MOI performance.
Our verdict:
Compared to the other mallet models on test the M4-12 has a lot of offset, meaning the double bend shaft positions the putter face behind the hands. Which is really useful for encouraging you to get your hands ahead of the ball. We all really liked the clean and simple head, it’s very much a mid-mallet and its face balancing is well suited to a straight back and through stroke. A couple of testers thought when it came to feel and roll the Nike with its RZN insert was right up there at the top of the pile.
Bottom line:
Nike aren’t yet renowned for making putters but we reckon the M4-12 is simple, straight forward and just how a putter should look. It’s well worth a second look as it’s a very good putter at a reasonable cost.
