Nike Method Converge CounterFlex S1-12 Review

The Tech:

A sliding 75g weight inside the grip can be positioned high, low or in the centre to adjust the amount of Counter Balancing. The head’s made in two pieces with a layer of Nike’s lightweight RZN between them to raise MOI which Nike reckons reduces dispersion by 10%. There’s also a grooved RZN face insert to soften feel and get putts rolling quicker.     

Our verdict:

In our view if you’re a fan of MOI style putters you’d be missing a trick to not give Counter Balancing a go as the extra stability on offer has very few trade-offs. The Converge’s head is pretty big but we love how Nike’s engineers have cleverly made the head in two sections, in a bid to help increase stability and MOI. The long sight line is ideal and we found when its set up behind a bold alignment stripe on a ball it was perfect for ensuring putts set off on the intended line. The grip’s big in size but it’s really good at getting you to grip lightly and swing the putter with your larger muscles.    

Bottom line:

Counter Balancing is on the up, and the Counter Flex offers the opportunity to tune counter weighting to your own game which is a lovely touch. A full shaft of offset means the CounterFlex will suit those trying to take the putter straight back and through.
