What we say...
2011 Review
Mizuno have really gone for it with putters in 2011, and the Krakatoa is one of two mid-mallets they are offering. It could conceivably be placed in the mallet category, but seeing as there is one that is even bigger we thought it sat better here. Suitable for a wide range of golfers, it features the Line 90 alignment system which encourages acceleration through impact to keep the putter square. It feels slightly heavy, but that does add confidence. We also noticed the smooth roll generated by the milled face.
Jon liked the look of the Krakatoa, but he was in the minority. Alex said he enjoyed putting with it, and felt confident standing over the ball. Chris slammed the looks, but said performance was superb. George also felt it performed well with it and recorded good numbers from the two distances. The ‘wings’ on the side of the head may well increase MOI and make it a more forgiving product, but there was nothing forgiving about the testers’ assessment of its looks as a measly 2.4 out of five indicates.
