Benross Tribe MDA1 Putter Review: You need to know

A large cavity back mallet design, cast from 304 stainless steel for excellent feedback and feel. A CNC Milled face grabs and grips putts at impact to impart more topspin and get putts rolling sooner. A black PVD finish eliminates glare, and an oversized Lamkin Sink grip fits snugly in the hands.

Benross Tribe MDA1 Putter Review: We say

TG have been big fans of Benross over the years and their ability to create top performing equipment for a reasonable cost. But costs are spiralling in the Far East (where the equipment’s made) so it’s getting difficult to bring great products to market for the prices we’ve got used too.

Last years Benross putters won us over as they incorporated some of the latest alignment tech alongside some great shapes and oversized grips, which all added up to some serious value for £59.99 a pop. 2018 unfortunately is a bit different. The MDA1 head failed to inspire us. Feel and feedback was rated as ordinary by all three testers and the price has gone up by a tenner which makes the Tribe a difficult product to heartily recommend.

Do putter face grooves really make a difference?

Benross Tribe MDA1 Putter Review: Verdict

Prices have gone up across the board in golf, so it’s not only Benross who’ve had to resort to hikes in RRP’s. But for us when prices go up they have to be justified with ‘extra’s’ and we’re just not seeing £10 more tech or performance in the Tribe to warrant the increase.
