What we say...
The Tech:
Precision one piece CNC milled from 304 Stainless Steel to maximise feel and distribute every gram of weight accurately. The heavy milled face aids good contact and helps impart topspin for smoother putts. A black PVD finish eliminates glare and gives a classic look.
Our verdict:
The Sergeant’s a really clean and simple traditional style blade that looks a lot like the Tad Moore putter that Seve used to favour at one point. We really like how sharp and clean the edges are and the single white alignment line is spot on. Because there’s no soft face insert feel is a little firmer compared to inserted models which is certainly not a criticism particularly when you consider british greens often only reach top speed for a few weeks a year. The oversized Reverse Taper grip is interesting, its larger at the bottom to help remove the lower hand from the putting stroke.
Bottom line:
A very good value CNC milled putter from Benross. If you’ve always wondered what all the fuss is about with milled putters but have been frightened off by the price tag the Sergeant is a good way to experiment without busting the bank.
