What we say...

The Tech:

Precision milled from a solid piece of soft 304 carbon steel for excellent feel. A satin black PVD finish eliminates glare, while a heavy milled face helps impart top spin and reduce skid.

Our verdict:

Benross prove with the Shooter that MOI mallets don’t always have to look bizarre to perform alongside the big boys. This twin fanged design is really stable and for a reasonable sized head it performed extremely well on off centre strikes, one tester simply couldn’t miss with it. The sound is quite distinctive as there’s no soft cushioned face insert but being fans of firm positive feeling putters we really warmed to the Shooter. The oversized reverse taper grip which is larger at the bottom compared to the top is excellent for encouraging use of the larger muscles and preventing wrist break down.

Bottom line:

Many will ask how Benross can turn out such a quality head for less than £100. Well the head is CNC Milled but only after its been cast, so there’s less waste material which dramatically lowers price. As does only writing a CNC program to mill the flat surfaces without the need to go round tricky edges or corners.
