What we say...
Yonex Cyberstar
Yonex like to be recognised as the Rolex of the golf industry on looks and the Cyberstar only enhances this appeal. Technology has played a huge role in developing the head with an internal graphite-lined cavity and a heavy, low and deep tungsten weight.
The top edge of the club is very flat and square and really easy to align at the target. The clubs are only available in graphite shaft which may well put some better players off. The shafts feel very lightweight when compared to the others on test but for a slower swinging individual this would be a bonus.
The ball flight was quite powerful and penetrating and certainly gave no indication of ballooning like most lesser quality graphite shafts. We had little problem hitting the club from all matter of lies and particularly liked the bladed sand wedge included in the set which a good player would appreciate. If you were having a bad day we feel you would find more forgiving irons but the questions has to be would they look nice?
They’re for
Someone who appreciates a traditional club that uses latest technology, and is a reasonably consistent ball striker.
Verdict
A really well made club although not the most forgiving design on test. At this price there are other designs available.
