What we say...

Tech:

One of the very first single length irons available. The idea being with every club being the same weight and length you get exactly the same feel and confidence as you usually would standing over a 7 or 8 iron. Some very clever tinkering with lofts, weighting and head constructions means gapping between each club is virtually the same as a normal length set of irons.

Our verdict:

Wishon were the first to get a single length set of irons to market when the concept first sprung onto the scenes, and they’ve created a really clever set. We’ve done quite a bit of single length iron testing over the last six months (in our own hands and readers) and our conclusion is, that as much as we like the theory we struggle to see the tangible benefits it brings to golfers who already use a traditional set. Yes the concepts really simple, and we’ve not seen any evidence from our testing that supports the idea that using a set messes with your carry distances. We’re just struggling to find golfers who’ve seen decent gains when using a set.

Bottom line:

Take nothing away from Wishon the Sterling have been designed to impact your carry distances minimally, which is really clever as its the concern most golfers raise over single length. But to buy into the concept you need to see gains and it’s those we’re yet to see for any real world golfers.
