What we say...

Tech:

If you like hitting hybrids more than irons you’ll love the Hot Launch 2 iron-woods. A hyper steel body is teamed with a super-thin variable thickness face to deliver driver like performance in a set of irons. A heavy sole and hollow body design combine to increase launch angles and forgiveness on every shot.

Our verdict:

One for serious hybrid fans as every club in the sets got a hybrid style body. Similar idea’s have been attempted by most manufacturers at least once in the past with some pretty mixed results. As good as the Hot Launch is at making the game more playable, enjoyable and fun our testers just couldn’t agree a golf club needs to be this radical to offer golfers the help they need. Shots pinged off the high lofted hot face with more spin than any other iron we tested, which if you’re interested in a set is worth further consideration. More spin also means more shot shape so off line shots go further left or right which isn’t an ideal combination at this end of the game.

Bottom line:

Having a bag crammed full of hybrids under headcovers isn’t everyone’s idea of golf. But for those that realise the benefits hybrids bring to the table the Hot Launch performs really nicely and represents reasonable value. In our view they’re only for serious hybrid addicts or those needing every bit of help they can get their hands on to launch and flight shots off the turf better and more consistently.
