What we say...
Tech:
Our most advanced players iron ever say Titleist. A co-forged construction delivers tour proven performance, with high-density tungsten weighting on the toe and heel aligning the CG perfectly with the centre of the face, for maximum ball speed and MOI performance.
Our verdict:
Titleist are keen to not pigeon hole their irons into player categories, instead they insist they prefer to fit the iron to the player rather than vice versa. With a loft of 34deg the AP2 is almost a club weaker than some on test so it was never going to challenge on pure distance, but it made up for it with a degree of forgiveness and playability thanks to the extreme tungsten toe and heel weighting. TG Editor Chris Jones posted some seriously consistent numbers with the AP2. Just 2mph drop off in ball speed and only 5 yards of carry distance between centre and off centre hits means they’d deliver very consistent and accurate performance on the golf course.
Bottom line:
A lovely looking iron that’s played by Jordan Spieth. We reckon they’re for reasonable ball strikers, if that’s you then the 57g of tungsten weighting really improves MOI for consistent shot making.

Irons are a personal thing however for me these new Titleist irons feel great. Took the fitting option at one of the official fitting centres which was an experience and a half. For me drawing the ball was never a shot I could pull off to order however it soon became apparent it was the shafts in my old irons which were preventing proper release. New lighter weight shafts later in now drawing the ball and added and extra 10 yards. Best of all is the feel these irons provide. I always thought Ping were the feel clubs but these AP2 are unbelievable. It's amazing the amount of feel these things provide especially with a ProV1x at the business end. Worth the money for me.
