TaylorMade P770 Irons Review: You need to know
Designed with direct input from TaylorMade’s tour stars. The 770 name refers to the 77m blade length and some serious reshaping work means the new design has a straighter top line, flattened sole radius and medium sole camber as well as a progressive offset. There’s 70 – 90g of tungsten and steel (depending on the club) located in the sole and lower cavity which TaylorMade say improves playability and delivers a great sound and feel.

TaylorMade P770 Irons Review: We say
Brands hate pouring their heart and soul into developing new products only for their tour pro’s to stick with an older model. Lots of TaylorMade staffers at the end of last season still played the TaylorMade forged MB circa 2014. The P770’s (and their P750 smaller brothers) are out to replace them and we reckon they’ve got a heck of a chance. They’re a superbly simple, unfussy design which actually look and play a bit more forgiving than you’d expect. Our two amateur testers loved their feel and feedback and being TaylorMade it’s no surprise their ball speed was 5mph quicker and carry distance 8 yards further than the test average for a seven iron.
Everything you need to know about iron shaft weight. And why it’s now more important than flex.
TaylorMade P770 Irons Review: Verdict
Tour pro forged irons never come cheap and we’re the first to admit at over £1000 a set the P770’s are wallet busting. They are however gorgeous, and if you’re lucky even to have both the money and the game to get the best out of them we applaud you.
