What we say...

SkyMax Ice Plus

The SkyMax had already won our December test for irons under £200, but we wanted to see how it fared against some much stiffer competition.

The club has certainly not changed in playability – it is still very easy to launch high and reasonably long, even with the longer irons. The graphite shaft is stable and lightweight, which we feel would ideally suit the slower swinging player.

We liked the nice soft grip on the set and they were a welcome relief on the brisk morning that testing was conducted. The deep channel in the irons’ cavity seems to enhance feel and make the club more forgiving by placing extra weight around the perimeter. With both an offset and a standard head you do have plenty of options to find a club that both suits your taste and helps to improve your game. And these are cheap. You can’t fault them for value-for-money.

Verdict: If we had £399 to spend these would probably not be our first choice but if you are shopping on a budget there is not a huge amount to dislike here.
