What we say...
PXG’s 0311 XF Gen 2 irons have repeatedly been at the top of our average ball speeds in testing
Thanks to innovations in materials, technology and customization, PXG say their PXG 0311 XF GEN2 irons deliver better turf interaction, greater distance, faster ball speeds, higher launch and improved accuracy. It may have taken them three years, but PXG are certain they have improved the older model in every possible way – with a whole Gen2 family to cover off all corner.s.
“It’s a tall task creating a club that’s better than the best, but that’s our commitment,” said PXG founder and CEO Bob Parsons. “PXG will never release a new club that’s not notably better than what we currently offer. And we believe, PXG GEN2 Irons set a new standard for the world’s finest.”

Each club also features a hidden cavity injection molded with new COR2 Technology, a proprietary vibration dampening material with explosive C.O.R. (coefficient of restitution) properties. Combined with PXG’s new internal face perimeter cut-out design, which dramatically increases the functional face area, COR2 Technology helps deliver higher ball speeds, a more consistent response, improved accuracy, and an exceptional feel at impact.
To maximize performance and deliver extreme forgiveness, PXG 0311 GEN2 Irons present the world’s thinnest club face and PXG’s signature perimeter weighting technology.

Extreme forgiveness, say PXG, but while maintaining the sleek look and superior feel of a blade. A large internal cavity and slightly longer blade with extra offset mean extreme forgiveness, while a thin top rail maintains a great look. A moderately wide sole improves impact consistency.

PXG 0311 XF Gen 2 iron review: TG Verdict
We’ve tested the XF a couple of times now and it’s really good – exactly what wasn’t available in the forged iron market before PXG came along. Forged irons used to be the reserve of decent players, as great forged models very rarely filtered down into the game improver category. PXG has changed all that and we applaud them for doing so.
The head is oversized and stretched from toe to heel, but you’ll be delighted at how good it looks at address. For our pro it generated a little less backspin, yet still peaked shots out nice and high with an average descent angle, which means you’ll have little difficulty holding greens. By tying for fastest average ball speed, with four other models (excluding the forged face/cast body irons) PXG are on to something.
Just because you’re not a great player doesn’t mean you don’t want the same feel and sound as the best. The XF is oversized, but it looks great sat behind the ball, without too much hosel off set or a chunky top line. We’re big fans of how you can’t buy PXG irons off the rack – they insist on fitting you. A brilliant forged game improver iron, which isn’t something we’ve said often before.

Unlike most other fitting stories we’ve heard, PXG like to look at how you present the head at impact, not your handicap. If you’re an enthusiastic but not brilliant golfer who hates how forged irons have been tailored to the best players for years, these will go along way to changing your thinking forever.
