What we say...

These clubs, imported from America, offer ample evidence of the importance of trying before you buy – and more than just one club in the set at that. To look at, they seem perfectly adequate, with more than a hint of cobra about them. Hit a short iron and you probably still won’t be put off by the consistent enough feel and middle-of-the-road performance.

But try a long-iron and soon you may well feel like giving up the game for good.  They’re that difficult. Time after time our 3-iron shot rose barely 6 ft off the ground before landing around the 140-yard mark and running out to no more than 10 yards beyons of the distance of a well-struck 6-iron. again and again we pushed 4 irons out to the right. It was not pretty.

The good news is that there may well be a simple explanation. We suspsect that the shafts were just stiffer than ideal, which would account for the daisy-cutters and the frequent pushes from the long irons and for the low, true ball flight of around 6 iroun up.

And while that theory might provide a reason for these iron’s tricky performance, it doesn’t make them easier to use, particularly for the sort of relative newcomers to the came that are likely to be more interested in a £200 set of irons. Not ideal.

Verdict: Solid if unexciting in the short and mid irons, damn hard in the 3 and 4. Easier sets are available.
