Long Term Test – Chris Jones 12 hcap
I’ve played a lot of golf in 2012 and the i20 irons have stood up to the test. The most impressive thing about them is the consistency of distance they offer – crucial for a man of Lee Westwood’s calibre but also handy for us mere mortals. The non-blade styling may not suit purists, but it’s tough to find fault with these.
Pros: Brilliant distance control, consistency and forgiveness; Ping’s custom fitting.
Cons: Purists won’t like the “chunky” look, but if they’re good enough for Westwood…

2012 Irons Test
The performance and forgiveness ratings tell the story. Jon said this was everything he wanted in an iron while Dave was impressed with the forgiveness packed into a compact head.
Ratings (out of 5)
Looks: 3.8
Feel: 3.8
Forgiveness: 4.4
Versatility: 3.6
Distance: 4.5
Dispersion: 4.5
Performance is optimized in these multi-metal irons through a progressive set design. The long irons are slightly larger, high launching and more forgiving. The smaller short irons feature less offset and provide exceptional control. Distance control and a solid feel come from a thicker hitting area and stabilizing bars in the cavity.
A high-density tungsten toe weight provides forgiveness across the face for accurate results and a high-launch, low-spin trajectory. An innovative design gives you complete command of the clubface for controlling trajectory and shot shape. The black-and-silver color scheme and satin-chrome finish with a ferrule offer a clean, professional look.
