Ping G Golf Irons Review: Tech
The Ping G irons are heat treated to make the heads 40% stronger than the 17-4 SS Ping traditionally use in their irons. COR-Eye technology behind the face encourages more of the face, top rail and sole to flex at impact to increase ball speeds. By connecting a “custom tuning port” to the sole rather than the face lowers and deepens the Centre of Gravity location, increasing forgiveness.

Ping G Irons Review: Verdict
It’s absolutely no surprise Ping’s G range of irons have been favourites of the club player since they were first introduced in 2003. They are just what tons of club golfers need. A decent looking head, tons of forgiveness and a good sprinkling of tech for good measure.
In our opinion the current Ping G’s (which are now in their second year) are absolutely the best of the bunch. Looking at our data comparing the G to the latest designs they still stack up. Simon recorded his joint highest individual ball speed (matching TaylorMade’s new M1 and Benross’s Type R pound for pound) whilst the other two testers recorded a ball speed 3mph quicker than the test average and 2 yards over the bench mark carry distance. Which has to say they’re just as good now as when they were launched last year.
Ping G Irons Review: Bottom Line
The Ping G is a seriously good iron from Ping. Lots of game improvement irons talk of combining the look of a players iron in a game improvement chassis but don’t quite get it right, we reckon the Ping G iron pulls off the combo superbly. Just remember that Ping sell them individually so you only need buy which irons you use.
