What we say...
MacGregor is renowned in Japan for making high-tech gear from the finest materials. There’s no doubting the MacGregor MacTec NVG2s are a quality set, but we couldn’t see any tangible difference in how they performed against their peers.
The long, shallow, oval heads resemble clubs of yesteryear with a modern twist. The hollow cavities should have been powerful and forgiving, but we had a tendency to hit shots on a high, looping flight that lacked the penetration or venom needed to add distance.
Progressive tungsten weighting throughout the set helps optimise each club for the job it was designed to do, concentrating mass low and deep in the long irons and closer to the face in the short irons.
Hollow-body structure enhances rebound effect off the face for distance and forgiveness.

I purchased these irons 4 years ago to replace my ping irons, I play off 9 and they are the best irons I have ever hit, not sure what they are made of but they explode off the club face compared to any other club I have used. They were and I have told to get better set to get my handicap lower but I've tried lots of other clubs but no news good as these.

Well balanced - with the graphite shafts you get a lot of club head speed plus forgiveness. I add ten yards for each club when using these.

Tried these irons on a simulator - they improved my 7 iron length by 25 yards and also showed themselves to be very forgiving due to the "cup-face" technology in the head design. The ones I tried/bought have the regular graphite shafts which are very stable, something I didn't expect from my first foray into the world of graphite irons. Some of the extra distance is made-up by the strong lofts - the 7 in the set is lofted like my old 6 iron. I'd say however that they also lauch the ball much higher that I used to get on an iron for iron basis which is helping me as I hit a low ball mainly. All-in-all a good choice for the mid-high handicapper who wants more distance, more accuracy and a higher ball flight.

I have used the old cavity backed MacGregor '501' clubs for some years now and have always found them to be reliable. When I considered an upgrade was due, I decided to purchase the new MacTec NVG2 irons from 5 - PW in graphite shafts and the matching SW and Gap wedges in steel shafts. I also took the opportunity to customise the set by reducing the lie angle by 2 deg and the shaft by a 1/4 inch in length. From the very first shot I was pleased with the way the clubs performed giving a nice soft resonsive feel with a good ball flight. I was even able to conjure up a 'draw' shot more easily, something which I had not been able to do with the older set. I'm now looking forward to reducing my '16' handicap with my new set of MacGregor NVG2 irons.

Great Irons - good distance even on off centre strikes. I tested many but these came out best - the heads were slightly heavier than some but I found that it suited my game
